Flamboyant Frenchman Gael Monfils took time out of his Wimbledon preparations on Friday to take a snap with Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Former French No 1 Monfils claimed he was a big fan of the German international as he posted the picture of the duo to his Instagram account.

Monfils will be hoping to impress Schweinsteiger next week at the SW19 tournament if he watches all the action from the stands.

Flamboyant Frenchman Monfils claimed he was a big fan of the German international midfielder

However, the German will probably be paying more attention to a different tennis player altogether while eating his strawberries in the sun.

That’s because Schweinsteiger’s girlfriend Ana Ivanovic will be hoping to pull off a shock in the tournament as she looks to break her duck at Wimbledon.

Ivanovic has never gone past the semi-final stage before at the grass-court Grand Slam and could face Serena Williams if she gets as far as the quarter finals.

Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic have been smitten walking round London in recent days and on Thursday night attended a WTA pre-Wimbledon party at The Roof Gardens.

The happy couple soaked up the pre-Wimbledon buzz while the beautiful Serbian rocked a dazzling ring – sparking yet more engagement rumours in the process.
