A foundation that paid Bristol Palin a massive amount of money to promote pregnancy prevention among teenagers has issued a statement congratulating her on the news she is expecting a new child.

The Candie's Foundation, a nonprofit focused on raising awareness about parenthood and pregnancy among young women, said they 'support' Palin in the aftermath of her recent announcement.

In 2010, they paid her $262,500 in an ambassador role speaking to teenagers around the country after the birth of her son Tripp.

The foundation, which encourages abstinence to prevent pregnancy among teenage girls, first worked with Palin when they asked her work with them on National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy in May of 2009.

'In 2011, when she was just 19, Bristol Palin was enormously helpful to The Candie's Foundation in our mission to educate teenagers about the devastating consequences of teen pregnancy,' said the nonprofit group in a statement.

'Her courage, while still a teen herself, to admit her mistakes so publicly in an effort to help others was remarkably brave. Today, at 24, we can only offer our support to Bristol and her family and respect her request for privacy.'

Palin, 24, in her role with Candie's, filmed PSAs, shot print ads, hosted town hall meetings and attended multiple events and photo calls for the charitable organization.

She was also on hand when the group had their National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, an event that honored Teen Mom star Maci Bookout among others.

Bookout, who was close to Palin at the time, had her second child just last month with boyfriend Taylor McKinney, daughter Jayde.

Palin announced she was pregnant with a post on her blog Thursday, writing; 'Honestly, I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one. At the end of the day there’s nothing I can’t do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace.'

She has not revealed who the father of the child is and no one in her family has spoken publicly about her pregnancy at this time.

She had been engaged to former Marine and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, but their wedding was called off just one week before it was set top occur in his home state of Kentucky.

Her son Tripp was born when she was just 18 and in a relationship with high school sweetheart Levi Johnston.

Palin and Johnston were briefly engaged, but later called off their wedding after they split.

Palin currently lives with Tripp in Alaska.
