He's known to have bulked up for acting roles before and practically lives in the gym.

And despite being on holiday in his native Australia, Hugh Jackman is continuing his exercise regime flipping himself upside down in an impressive headstand.

Showing off his bulding biceps and toned physique, the 46-year-old movie star put younger men to shame as he appears to hold the blood-rushing pose for a brief period of time.

Hugh, who is currently in Queensland, shared the image of himself doing the impressive move to Instagram late Friday night.

He captioned the shot shared with his 2.3 million followers: 'Bring on the weekend!! #TGIF.'

In the image, Hugh can be seen with a pained expression on his face and his biceps do the talking.

Wearing black exercise gear including a T-shirt and running tights with shorts over the top, he was supported by a base on the ground that cushioned his head.

Los Angeles-based Hugh and actress wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 59, first arrived in Australia last week with their children, Ava, nine, and 12-year-old Oscar. 

Hugh, who was born in Sydney, has spent time hitting the beach and attended NRL game State Of Origin in Melbourne.

He also shared on Instagram a video of a kangaroo eating from his hand.

The Pan star is recognised for his role in X-Men series as Wolverine where he has shaped up for the role.

He has also appeared as the character in 2013's The Wolverine. 

Filming has just begun for the upcoming film, X-Men: Apocalypse.

This week, he shared a picture of how he keeps in shape, showing ingredients he uses for smoothies, including coconut yoghurt and granola.

He wrote on Instagram: 'Champions smoothie... Wake up. Water. 30 minutes later this smoothie. For extra points 10 minutes before smoothie Apple Cider Vinegar for ultimate digestion.'

He also shared an image of himself working on his legs at the gym, writing: 'LEG DAY.'
