Rita's outing comes after she revealed that she and Simon Cowell had a midnight meeting at his west London home to thrash out her X Factor contract.

The musician, who forfeited her position on The Voice UK to sign the deal with Cowell, said that the pair had no choice but to meet to in the dead of the night because of their hectic schedules.

Speaking about the showdown, Rita told The Sun: 'We had to fly out to Los Angles to finish my album the next day and he was working on Britain's Got Talent at the time.

'I had a lot of questions and he did too. But it just fit into place perfectly. And the time commitment worked perfectly for me.

'What made it special was when Simon asked me about X Factor, he told me about his plans for the show and how he was going to change it up.'

Rita joins Simon and Cheryl on the panel along with her close friend and Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw.
