THANKS to the rise in social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram, it’s never been easier — or more popular — for celebrities to brag about their lavish, pampered lifestyles and fabulously toned bodies.

And, when it comes to holidays, they just can’t resist rubbing our noses in it. Not so much a case of ‘Wish you were here?’ as ‘Wish you were me?’

We have supermodel Elle ‘The Body’ Macpherson to thank for starting the whole ‘My Perfect Holiday’ craze on social media.

Bikini dream: Stars like Paris Hilton are all-too keen to give us holiday - and body - envy with the snaps from their incredible summer getaways

Last year, the 51-year-old supermodel posted this snap (left) of herself on a yacht in Sardinia, sipping a smoothie with the caption ‘Super greens after super swim’, making us all feel super sick with envy.

Since then, the internet has been awash with ‘perfect bodies’ on holiday.

Here, CLAUDIA CONNELL takes a look at some of the most recent oh-so-smug pictures of the stars on their hols and discovers it’s a far cry from the sunburn, mosquito bites and wobbly bits the rest of us have to endure.

One glimpse at her Instagram page reveals that model Kelly is on holiday more than she is at home. ‘First dip of the day,’ she wrote as she ventured into the sea in Bodrum, Turkey, last month. One thing’s for certain, she’s not going to sink.

An ocean-front villa there costs £9,000 a night — that’s a lifetime’s worth of holidays for some of us.

MICHELLE KEEGAN, 28

Ex-Coronation Street star Michelle recently wed The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright. The cash they made from flogging their big day to Hello! magazine paid for their honeymoon in the Maldives and Dubai.

‘One of the boys asked me if I wanted to go golf. My answer: I’ll stick with my view thanks,’ wrote Mark, captioning this photo. He won’t find himself on many a feminist’s Christmas card list.
