'Too many gunshot wounds to count': Doctors' horror at British mother, 48, in coma after being riddled with bullets by Tunisian gunman as tourists share their astonishing tales of survival

Tunisia attack leaves doctors horrified as British mother riddled with bullets

Riddled with bullets, she was stretchered away on a sunbed in her pink bikini - an image that has encapsulated the horror of the Tunisian beach attack. Yesterday, as she lay in a hospital thousands of miles from home fighting for her life, she was named as Briton Allison Heathcote (centre and inset), 48. Mrs Heathcote, of Felixstowe, Suffolk, who works for a shipping company and has a grown-up son, is one of five victims who survived the massacre but is now seriously ill. The British death toll in the massacre is expected to double to at least 30, sources have said. A total of 38 people were killed when a gunman opened fire on a beach in the Sousse resort on Friday. Also pictured: Tourists mourn at the site of the attack (top right) and Seifeddine Rezgui enters the beach with his Kalashnikov before picking out his victims and shooting them (bottom right).

Labour's Amran Hussain poses for selfie at site of Tunisia massacre

A Labour parliamentary candidate has sparked outrage by posing for a selfie at the exact spot where a crazed gunman massacred 38 holidaymakers including up to 30 Britons just 48 hours earlier. Amran Hussain, 29, an Army reservist who stood for North East Hampshire in the recent election, was pictured holding his selfie stick aloft (main) as he grinned in front of a pile of flowers and tributes. The politician, who has been pictured with Ed Miliband (inset), has now defended his decision saying he visited Marhaba beach in Sousse to pay his 'respects' to those who lost their lives and pointing out selfies are not 'banned'.

Clarkson in a filthy mood and a host of weary gags... his last Top Gear was as worn out as a bald tyre, says CHRISTOPHER STEVENS

Jeremy Clarkson's last Top Gear was as worn out as a bald tyre

Thank goodness that's over, writes CHRISTOPHER STEVENS. The demise of Top Gear, at least in its classic 'three grumpy blokes' format, must be celebrated - for Jeremy Clarkson's sake. As he featured on the show for the last time, in an edition that must count among the very worst of its 175 episodes, he was plainly loathing every moment of it. The million-plus fans who petitioned the BBC to recall Clarkson should be ashamed of themselves. They wanted Beeb director-general Tony Hall to forgive the presenter for punching a producer. But to recall him would be downright sadistic.
