It looks like Jennifer Lawrence's low-key dinner got a little silly on Friday night.

The actress emerged from the Waverly Inn restaurant in New York sporting pen scribbles all over her face after dining with her mother Karen and a pal.

The 24-year-old laughed off the new look and pulled a few goofy faces as she strutted out of the establishment.

Jennifer's unibrow, curly moustache and goatee appeared to have been hastily drawn on in black Biro.

It's not clear who the culprit was but Jennifer's mother enjoyed a good giggle at the actress' face as she walked alongside the star.

The Silver Linings Playbook actress didn't appear to mind one bit, smiling and sashaying down the street seeming in very merry spirits.

Showing no embarrassment at all, Jennifer stopped to sign autographs for some keen fans.

It's not the first time the actress has pulled such a prank as she was seen earlier in the week messing around with two chopsticks protruding from her mouth.

Jen's look on Friday night was simple yet elegant as she slipped into a very low-cut black mini-dress with a lace hemline and lace cut-outs.

Earlier in the day, Jennifer sought her mother’s advice while looking for an apartment in New York City.

The women were seen heading into NYC's Tribeca area, where they put on hardhats to check out new apartments under construction.

The blonde beauty seemed a bit unimpressed as she left the site, following closely behind her mother.

She coupled the summery ensemble with a pair of two-toned ballet flats, and wore her short locks styled straight.

The American Hustle star had just landed in the Big Apple on Wednesday, having jetted from Los Angeles with her beloved pooch Pippi.
