The Mentalist star Simon Baker keeps the romance alive on holiday with wife of 12 years

The Mentalist star Simon Baker enjoyed a romantic moment with his wife of 12 years while holidaying in the South of France.

The Australian actor, known for playing psychic consultant Patrick Jane in the hit show, was spotted cuddling up to Rebecca Rigg, 42, as they cooled off in the sea in Monaco.

The 40-year-old took some time out from promoting his show at the Monte Carlo Television Festival to spend time with his wife and family, including daughter Stella Breeze, 16, and sons Claude Blue, 11, and Harry Friday, 9.

Baker moved to the U.S. in 1995 and has carved out a successful career in Hollywood, with roles in TV show The Guardian and big screen hit The Devil Wears Prada.

Still, Baker is eager to land a good romantic comedy.

'I would love to do a rom-com, but they are not good - good and successful doesn't equate to the same thing,' he has said.

'A lot of the romantic comedies that have been served up in recent times are not very good.

Making a splash: The actor is in France to promote his TV show, but he still found time for fun

'I like the Cary Grant and George Cukor stuff, with the witty banter and dialogue - they don't make them like that any more.'

Baker is part of the close-knit community of Australian actors in Hollywood and Nicole Kidman is godmother to son Harry while Naomi Watts is the godmother of Claude.

The Mentalist is shown on Five in the UK and CBS in the US.
