'We've been incredible!' Harry Styles insists One Direction have played their BEST shows as four-piece following shock departure of Zayn Malik

Their current stadium tour has been beset by a dip in ticket sales, but Harry Styles insists One Direction have played their best concerts following the departure of Zayn Malik.

The band launch the North American leg of their appropriately titled On The Road… Again world tour in San Diego on July 9, but while the roadshow was momentarily rocked by Zayn’s sudden departure Harry says his absence hasn't affected their performances.

‘There have been incredible shows across Europe, some of the best we’ve had!’ he told EW. 'So we’re super excited about coming to America.

‘The only changes have been that the parts Zayn sang have been picked up by different people. Other than that, the shows have been going absolutely great.’

Despite leaving a visible hole after quitting the band to concentrate on being a 'normal 22-year-old,' Harry insists the group have no desire to pull songs dependent on Zayn's high-notes - among them hit single Story of my Life - from the set list. 

He said: 'It would be pretty devastating if we took that song out. Liam (Payne) stepped up to do the high notes.

Harry Styles is known for his rock and roll style - regularly spotted in skinny jeans, winkle picker boots and crazy shirts. While at the airport following One Direction's latest shows, he rocked one his usual get up, but this time swapping his black skinnies for a white pair.

It was revealed in June that the band have been giving away free tickets to their upcoming US shows,with fans offered a buy one, get one free deal to secure up to four free tickets. 

The group are used to selling out gigs in minutes, but as early as month tickets were available for North American gigs, including fan hot-spots San Francisco, Chicago, New Jersey and New York.

The new promotion- which ran from June 2 to June 8 - gave fans the chance to buy 'two tickets and get two', with a 50 per cent discount off the four tickets - essentially, buy one get one free.
