Former Chelsea star Lampard was in the stands at the Yankee Stadium on Sunday as his new side were defeated 3-1 by rivals New York Red Bulls.

And the 37-year-old will be hoping his arrival will encourage his team-mates to turn their season around after struggling this year.

NYCFC are currently ninth in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference and have won just four of their 17 matches.

Lampard is expected to make his MLS debut in the Big Apple against Toronto FC on July 12.
