Scooping the Australian talent pool? Daniela Scala auditions for The Voice after Popstars failure 14 years ago... as Idol's 09 brickie Scott Newnham also tries his luck

It's supposed to be a talent competition in search of Australia's next big singing voice.

But it seems flops and failures from other reality TV shows are flocking to The Voice Australia this year in hope of a second chance at stardom, with the blind auditions working in their favour.

And one of those hopefuls in Monday night's show was Daniela Scala, who is best known as one of the members of the Popstars 2001 band Scandal'us which scored a no.1 hit with Me, Myself and I.

But, despite her musical background, the singing teacher failed to impress judges - Jessie J, Delta Goodrem, Ricky Martin and the Madden brothers - with her rendition of Divinyls’ Pleasure and Pain.

In fact, Jessie - who sang along to the classic - seemed to hit a nerve with Daniela when she told her to keep 'practicing' and 'performing' because 'practice doesn't make perfect but it makes better.'

Scandal'us was set for a high-flying career 14 years ago but fans were left shocked less than a year later in early 2002 when they announced their split after they were dropped by their record label.

Daniela wasn't the only familiar face to grace screens during the blind auditions as Australian Idol's Scott Newnham - who came eighth on the show six years ago, managed to turn all the judges chairs when he rocked up on stage with his muscles on display last week.

The former brickie ended up choosing the Livin' La Vida Loca singer as his coach for his 'passion', despite previously saying he fancies Australia's sweetheart, Goodrem.

With abs to die for, the spray tanned and toned hunk from Melbourne is not shy about being out and proud on his line of work. 

Newnham, who only found out about his talent for singing six years ago, also serenades paying hen parties topless, while he studies full-time at the Australian Institute of Music. 

Proud as punch of their topless waiter, the Magic Men Facebook page praised Newnham shortly after he was sent through to the next round following his impressive audition last Tuesday night. 

The Voice Australia returns to screens at 7:30pm on Channel Nine on July 8.
