It was the day after the Fourth Of July, but sparks were still flying when Nikki Reed and her husband Ian Somerhalder shared a passionate kiss.

The couple enjoyed an afternoon of post-Independence Day festivities from the balcony of a Malibu beach house on Sunday.

Nikki, 27, clutched a pint sized American flag while enjoying a cool bottle of Heineken beer beside her husband, 36.

Dressed in her bohemian best, Nikki shone in a slouchy white boyfriend shirt that was thrown over a grey tank top and Daisy Dukes.

The Twilight star wore her hair down in its signature beach waves, and as usual wore a flawlessly applied coat of makeup.

Her other half sported a blossoming beard, while showing off his defined features in a snug blue top and black trousers.

The couple giggled and cuddled closer as they took in the fresh air on the minimally decorated balcony.

As Ian took a swig from his beer, Nikki waved her tiny American flag over the rail.

It seems Nikki and Ian have enjoyed a relatively active holiday weekend.

On the Fourth of July, the Twilight star Instagrammed a photo of herself taking a breather during a bike ride with her beau.

'Started this day with two hours on the trail climbing hills and then making almond milk. Now my dad is showing us his new rain catch system. Ha! Only one missing is @nathanaugustreed...Happy 4th!! #howweliketoparty,' she wrote.

Ever since tying the knot in April, there's little doubt the couple have been relishing their new life of marital bliss.

Since their big day, the twosome - who got engaged after just six months together - have enjoyed a picture-perfect honeymoon together in Mexico.

And life has been one long honeymoon since then, with the loved-up twosome enjoying sunshine breaks in Italy and France in recent weeks.

There's also been some talk about the two starting a family in the near future, with Nikki telling E! News 'At some point, yes,' when asked about becoming a mother.

After tying the knot in an intimate ceremony in the Santa Monica hills, blushing bride Nikki took to Instragram to share a sweet montage video of the loving couple on their special day.

'You are, My every dream brought to life. We are, A cosmic collision. This is, A lifetime felt in every moment I’m by your side,' the actress captioned the PDA-packed clip posted on their one month anniversary.

'My love. My human…happy one month,' the Twilight star added.
