They recently jetted out of Australia following a week-long Hillsong Chruch conference.

But it appears God wasn't on Joe Termini's side when he and his bestie, Justin Bieber, went for a refreshing dip on Monday.

The pair were holidaying in a mystery tropical location when Joe was attacked by a reef shark, leaving a gruesome wound on his chest and rib cage.

A photographer by trade, Joe had the repercussions of his unfortunate encounter documented by Justin via his Instagram account.

'Exactly why i hate sharks they told us reef sharks don't bite @joetermini,' Justin captioned the shot, which went out to his 31.9 million Instagram followers.

A down and out Joe can be seen laying on a towel in the shot, on the balcony of a secluded bungalow.

His wound isn't life threatening, but looked rather painful and a quite deep.

Joe then posted a shot of his bite-mark, which edged just millimetres from his nipple, to social media, zooming in a little too close to the open wound.

'It's been a good day,' he wrote alongside the stomach-churning pic.

The unfortunate incident happened just hours into Justin and Joe's secluded getaway.

Justin posted a photograph of himself with Joe and his spiritual adviser, Pastor Joel Houston, on Sunday, hanging out in front of a private jet.

Beer in hand, the Baby singer simply captioned the shot: 'Happy 4th.'

After having been in Australia for the five-day Hillsong conference, the Canadian celebrity left Sydney on Saturday morning.

Pastor Joel, whose controversial grandfather Frank and father Brian founded the Australian movement, was seen by Justin's side, though the singer's rumoured girlfriend Hailey Baldwin was nowhere to be seen.

Hailey did however, tweet about the shark attack from the US, after touching down a day earlier from Sydney.

'Of course Joey would get bit by a shark,' she wrote:

The Hillsong Church, a Pentacostal megachurch, was established in 1983 by the late Frank Houston and his son Brian Houston, who is Joel's father.

The church's headquarters are in Baulkham Hills in the north-west of Sydney with campuses all across Australia and some parts of the world, including London, Ukraine, South Africa, Sweden and New York.
