Forget the lob, the geometric bob wig is the hottest hair trend for next season if Chanel has anything to do with it… but is it the most unflattering hairstyle EVER?

  • Sam McKnight - an A-list hairdresser - conjured up the style
  • Models wore slanting bob wigs in deep hues that drained their complexions
  • Kendall Jenner was the show's bride - and was unrecognisable

It wouldn't be Paris Fashion Week without Karl Lagerfeld's exquisite Chanel show and this year, as ever, the French design house delivered a triumphant collection with a starry front row.

Whilst the Chanel head honcho stuck to what he knows best with tweed blazers and structured suits, his beauty look left much to be desired.

The 'lob' - that's a long bob - may have been big hair news in 2015 but come next season, we will all be rocking gravity-defying geometric bob wigs, if Karl and the beauty gurus backstage at fashion week have a say.

Behind the scenes at the Chanel couture show, the most talented hair and make-up artists in the world worked like a well-oiled machine to set the next season's beauty trends - but this one is unlikely to become mainstream.

Sam McKnight - an A-list hairdresser - was among the hotbed of talent conjuring up next season's beauty looks backstage.

In previous seasons, the talented hairdresser has showcased crimping, mohawks and hair brooches, but Tuesday's offering was much more extreme.

The models in today's show - including Kendall Jenner - rocked geometric slanting bob wigs in deep hues that drained their complexions.

The kooky hairstyle, which began half way along the hairline to reveal a flash of the models' scalps, was complemented by kabuki-style make-up by Tom Pecheux.

Even Kendall Jenner struggled to pull off the look. Doing what she does best, the model-of-the-moment almost went unnoticed as she strutted down the catwalk with composed poise and posture at the Chanel presentation.

With her long raven coloured locks nowhere to be seen, the 19-year-old star looked worlds apart from her usual self as she rocked the cropped wig in a starring role as Karl Lagerfeld's 'bride;.

Each season, Karl hand-picks a ‘bride’ to close his couture show; someone he deems to be the star of his runway.

This is Kendall’s first solo bridal appearance in a show; in December, she walked the runway as a joint bride with Cara Delevingne in the Chanel head honcho’s show in Salzberg.

Cara Delevingne has made a solo appearance as a bride twice before, but the supermodel skipped today’s show to focus on her acting – and her best pal Kendall looked delighted to take over the coveted role.

Calling on the 19-year-old to open and close his spectacular, Kendall wore a modern reinterpretation of the classic Chanel suit complete with a train to close proceedings.
