Christy Turlington, 46, becomes the latest in a long line of celebrities to join designer Marc Jacobs' star-studded winter campaign

  • The supermodel joins the likes of model Emily Ratajkowski, singer Cher, actress Winona Ryder and director Sofia Coppola
  • Mr Jacobs, 52, has been regularly sharing images from the campaign on his social media accounts for the last month
  • Last week he was left red-faced after accidentally sharing a nude selfie on his Instagram account

Supermodel Christy Turlington has been revealed as the newest face of Marc Jacobs' fall/winter campaign, joining the likes of Winona Ryder, Cher, Willow Smith and Emily Ratajkowski, all of whom have landed prominent roles in the star-studded ad series.

The 46-year-old supermodel's debut image for the campaign was unveiled on the designer's official Instagram account on Friday afternoon, just a few days after he revealed 24-year-old Blurred Lines star Emily's and director Sofia Coppola's own pictures.

Writing in a caption alongside the image, Marc, 52, wrote: 'I first met Christy in 1987. Both inside and out, she is one of the most beautiful people I know!

Latest news: Christy Turlington, 46, is the newest face of what has become Marc Jacobs' most star-studded campaign yet

'Having had retired from doing fashion shows, she had promised me she would "walk the runway" for me when we started up our company.

'In 1994, she flew herself to NYC from San Francisco keeping her word. In 2003 we collaborated on her Yoga bag, and in 2006 she appeared in our PROTECT THE SKIN YOU'RE IN project.

'Photographed here by David Sims for our Fall/Winter campaign...my friend, the incredibly generous and absolutely gorgeous Christy Turlington.'

In the image, the mother-of-two can be seen sitting up on a stool, with her leather glove-clad hands framing her face.

She is wearing a pair of heeled, knee-high leather boots and a pleated rose-print silk skirt, while showing off her ageless complexion and flawless bone structure courtesy of an incredibly natural make-up look.

Christy is just the latest in what has become a long line of celebrities who have been revealed as having starring roles in the new campaign, all of whom have been unveiled on the designer's social media accounts.

And the news comes less than one week after Marc suffered a social media snafu, after he accidentally shared a naked picture of himself on Instagram.

Although he quickly deleted the nude selfie, many of his beady-eyed fans were quick to grab a copy, before promptly sharing the image, which featured the designer looking back over his shoulder into a mirror, exposing his buttocks and penis, and was captioned: 'It's yours to try!'

Shortly after removing the selfie, Marc shared two more images from the campaign - featuring model-turned-actress Emily and his long-time friend and collaborator Sofia.

In both images, the women can be seen modeling a selection of fur accessories, with Emily donning a fur coat, while Sophia can be seen posing in a fur scarf, while holding a black and white fur handbag.

Each of the women are pictured in front of the now-iconic burgundy background that has featured in every single other image from the campaign.

Speaking of his close relationship with director Sophia in his Instagram post, Marc wrote: 'This next photo I am "leaking" is one of my very favorites from this "album" photographed by David Sims of our Fall/Winter collections.

'I met Sofia Coppola just after I showed my now "credited" (by some!) GRUNGE collection for Perry Ellis in 1992. Sofia was one of the few who recognized something special and related to what I was doing at that time. She wanted to meet me, and when we did, it was love at first sight for me!

'Not only was I attracted to how she looked, her sense of style, I was drawn to her manner. Her behavior, her life, her ambitions and creativity... She represented everything I am drawn to - Talent, style, creativity, a unique "vision and voice". She had then and has now an interest in fashion not as an art but rather part of the "art of living".'

Wear your feelings on your shirt like Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs accidentally posted a picture of his derriere on Instagram that was actually meant to be a DM (Direct Message).

No wonder he's wearing a sad face t-shirt, we'd be sad too if our private nudies were posted for the world to see!

It's only fitting if Marc Jacobs wears Marc Jacobs. The designer wore a magnified sad face cotton t-shirt from his line.

You can sport a sad face like Marco too, just head over to MyTheresa and buy it for $125, who would of thought showing your emotions would be such a high price!

Also, take a look at our style carousel below, we've got picks from Forever 21, ASOS and more!

He added that this is not the first time Sophia has appeared in one of his campaign images, noting: 'Over the years she has appeared in the ads we did. The first campaign was for Fall/Winter 2000. The next our first fragrance in 2001 photographed by Juergen Teller.

'She later would be the subject of a portrait painted by the artist Elizabeth Peyton. Sofia and I went on to collaborating for handbag collections both at our company and for Louis Vuitton (while I was there) and later sat for my final Vuitton campaign photographed by Steven Meisel.

'She has also directed our recent television commercial for our fragrance DAISY (equally inspired by my love for her film THE VIRGIN SUICIDES). I write all of this to say, that from that point of my life and to this day, I am so deeply inspired by that time in my life.

'Meeting Sofia, having met and worked with Steven, the many years I collaborated with Juergen Teller, the work of David Sims and the late Corinne Day. As I write this and look at all the portraits of David's beautiful campaign, it touches me so deeply to see the profound effect this cast has on my life and work. Special thanks to Katie, David, Guido, Diane, Stefan and my team.'

When it comes to Emily, Marc was equally loquacious, describing the model as 'sweet, friendly, energetic, talented and sexy'.

'I lucked out the day Katie Grand introduced me to the sweet, friendly, energetic and talented (oh, did I mention sexy in that I TOTALLY GET IT sexy way)....Emily Ratajkowski.

'As a sports illustrated swim suit model, as an actor in GONE GIRL and an all around sweet, fun and friendly woman- thank you for bringing your brand of red hot sex appeal and glamour to this David Sims portrait from our Fall/Winter campaign. [sic]'

Just days before Emily and Sophia's images were revealed, Marc also shared two other campaign pictures featuring Winona Ryder, 43, who is modeling the designer's clothes while sporting a unique choppy haircut.

'Winona and I have been friends for over 15 years,' Marc wrote in a caption for one of the new photos on Instagram. 'She first appeared in our campaign in 2003. Here she is as beautiful and unique as ever.'

Winona's first campaign for the brand, modeling the Spring/Summer 2003 collection, came shortly after her 2002 conviction for shoplifting from a Saks Fifth Avenue store in Beverly Hills, California.

At the time, Marc explained: 'I asked Winona to do the campaign because I thought she looked so beautiful in all these pictures that we've seen recently, regardless of whether they were from the trial.'

The newest images of the Girl, Interrupted star do not follow on the heels of any scandal, making the focus more about the fashion than causing a stir. In the first photo, Winona is seen wearing an embellished black coat over a long pleated skirt. Her eyes are rimmed in dark liner and she is sporting a short, choppy cut.

In the second snap, a close-up, the star poses with her mouth open and a pair of oversized tortoiseshell sunglasses are covering her eyes. Her hair is particularly messy, somewhat reminiscent of the style worn by the title character in her 1990 film Edward Scissorhands.

Marc captioned the picture: 'I love her wit, energy, and besides being a great talent, she is a great friend! [sic]

The designer also released an image starring a braid-wearing Betty Lowe. The nine-year-old is following in her big sister's footsteps - model Daisy Lowe, 26, starred in a 2009 campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs.

In addition to photos featuring the two familiar names, Marc also shared images of other talented friends and colleagues, including songwriter and producer Steve Mackey, his son Marley Mackey, and models Julia Nobis, Molly Bair, and Cierra Skye.

Chic little sister: 'Allow me to introduce Betty Lowe,' Marc captioned this photo of the 9-year-old. 'I love these girls, their mom Pearl, and this family!'

Winona and Betty are just the latest names to join the growing campaign, which has truly become a star-studded affair.

Earlier this month, photos were released of Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis and his seven-year-old son Everly Bear also modeling the designer's creations.

In snaps shared on the designer's official Instagram account, the 52-year-old singer and his child are pictured in front of the same red background featured in the other campaign images.

'Red Hot Chili Pepper, lead singer, co-songwriter, great father!' Marc captioned the image. 'Here is Anthony Kiedis and his son Everly Bear. Thanks guys for joining us in our Fall campaign. You're both hot and cool as can be!!,' he added.

In the photo, Anthony bares his chest as he models a rose-patterned blazer, while his son is posed sitting on his lap with his arm thrown across his dad's shoulder.

Everly dons an oversize olive green T-shirt and slim fitting pants, and his long hair flows past his shoulders, while his feet are are bare. His ensemble is topped with a red and blue cap that matches his father's blazer.

Although Anthony's first home is on the stage, having fronted his Grammy-winning band since 1983, he is no stranger to the fashion world.

Anthony joined Sofia Coppola, Deborah Harry, and Nicki Minaj in the front row at Marc Jacobs' Fall 2015 New York Fashion Week show in February.

A week before Anthony's campaign images were revealed, singer and A-list progeny Willow Smith appeared in a striking image for the fashion house.

Marc shared the shot of the 'stylish and charming' 14-year-old wearing a dramatic pleated-skirt dress and jacket, edgy black gloves, and chunky black heels as she sits atop a ladder.

Along with his compliment for the young daughter of Will Smith, 46, and Jada Pinkett Smith, 43, the designer shared a few words introducing the star-studded campaign.

'Ever since our first Juergen Teller ad in 1998 which featured Kim Gordon on stage wearing my dress, I have always preferred collaborating with the people who inspire me to give new life to the clothes we show on our runway,' he wrote.

'Over the years we have photographed an incredibly diverse and exceptional group of talented friends and individuals who I greatly admire: Victoria Beckham, Jamie Bochert, Jarvis Cocker, Sofia Coppola, Miley Cyrus, Dakota Fanning, William Eggleston, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Stephen Malkmus, Samantha Morton, Kate Moss, Charlotte Rampling, Winona Ryder, Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Sherman, Michael Stipe, and Rufus Wainwright, just to name a few.

He continued: 'Beauty, style and talent know no age. It is those individuals whose creativity, unique vision, and voice inspire all of us here to create and express ourselves through our medium: fashion.

'Photographed by David Sims, this season’s ads feature friends, each of whom evoke a sense of intrigue and inspiration and collectively provoke a true consideration for individuality.

Willow's campaign image came one week after Marc unveiled the first image from the series, which features singer and fashion icon Cher.

The debut snap initially appeared in WWD, less than a month after the If I Could Turn Back Time singer attended the Met Gala on Marc's arm.

In the photo, Cher wears a pleated floor-length dress, a matching black jacket, and black leather gloves, which all create a distinct Victorian vibe.

With nude lips and and blush-swiped cheeks, her make-up is understated, while her famously long locks have been teased.

Cher's appearance in the campaign was met with an overwhelmingly positive response on social media, with fans around the world taking to Twitter to praise the decision to cast such an icon in its campaign.

'Shoutout to Marc Jacobs, this Cher greatness is all I needed to get through this week,' one person tweeted, while another added: 'Cher in the new Marc Jacobs ad is just amazing.'

Shortly after the campaign was officially announced in WWD, the debut ad was posted on the official Marc Jacobs Instagram account, along with the caption, 'The first face of our Fall '15 ad campaign @Cher', sparking speculation that the singer will be joined by several other famous faces when the full campaign debuts later this year.

Marc himself also shared the image on his personal account, writing alongside it: 'The amazing and beautiful CHER! Photographed by David Sims for our Fall/Winter campaign.. This is just the beginning.... More to come!! [sic]'
