'It's not just about women!' Sarah Jessica Parker claims she's NOT a feminist, but a 'humanist' as she poses in a figure-hugging dress on the cover of Cosmo

Sarah Jessica Parker may have played one of television's most iconic female characters, but the former Sex and the City star has revealed that she does not consider herself a feminist – choosing instead to label herself a 'humanist'.

The 50-year-old actress flaunted her ample cleavage in a pale pink dress on the August cover of Cosmopolitan, in which she further discusses her somewhat controversial views on feminism, as well as her much-talked about Met Gala look, and Sex and the City 3 rumors.

'As [playwright] Wendy Wasserstein would say, I'm a humanist,' Sarah explained of her views. I'm enormously appreciative of the work that my mother's generation did. We are the beneficiaries of a lot of disappointment, heartache, discouragement, and misunderstanding. But I see a lot of people trying to sort out their roles.'

Slip into a silk pencil dress like SJP

If you got it flaunt it! Sarah Jessice Parker looked sexy in a pale pink strappy dress on the August 2015 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine.

The fashionista definitely shocked us with her...goods, along with her stance on a humanist movement rather than a movement based solely on feminism.

Back to the dress- she wore a pale pink Marc Jacobs cross strap pencil dress...the bad news? The dress is not available in pale pink. Good news? It's available in black!

Head over to Saks Fifth Avenue to snag SJP's style for $1600.

She added: 'People of color, gays, lesbians, and transgenders who are carving out this space. I'm not spitting in the face or being lazy about what still needs to be done - but I don't think it's just women anymore. We would be so enormously powerful if it were a humanist movement.'

And while she doesn't label herself as a feminist, the mother-of-three most definitely has women's rights on her mind, citing equality in pay, paid sick leave and child care as pressing political issues in her eyes.

'If I could guarantee every mother who is working two, three jobs that she had good child care that didn't make her anxious all day - people would probably work in more efficient ways,' she explained.

She and her husband Matthew Broderick have three children together, a 12-year-old son named James Wilkie and six-year-old twin girls named Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, who were delivered via a surrogate in 2009.

And Sarah, who grew up in relative poverty with seven siblings, knows that she is incredibly fortunate - which is why it irks her when people ask her how she does it all.

She noted: 'How many times do you hear a wealthy person get asked, "How do you do it all?" If I'm asked that question one more time … I'm like, "Are you kidding me? Ask someone who looks like she's about to drop, How are you doing? How are you managing?"'

Sarah has a long list of successful endeavors, including her own shoe line, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker, however, she is still best known for playing Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO show Sex and the City, which later turned into a two film franchise.

And even though Sex and the City 2 came out five years ago, rabid fans of the show are still hoping for a third instalment – and have often accused Sarah of intentionally sparking rumors that it is being made, only for the speculation to be denied.

In May, Sarah took to her Instagram account to share a picture of herself holding a Bloomingdales bag, writing: 'Well. I guess the cat's out of the (little brown) bag. As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able. I'm under a strict gag order until then. Xx, Sj.'

Many believed she was confirming production of Sex and the City 3, and Sarah faced backlash when people learned that the film wasn't currently being made.

'Oh my god. When I posted that picture and people were in a rage at me, I was shocked. They were convinced I had been taunting them. I'm not that clever!' she said. 'And to what end would I relish dangling this idea and then saying there's no movie? I'm still finding people and being like, 'No @BoobityBopBeep! Why would I hurt you?' I've never been a mean girl.'

In addition to being an actress, producer and designer, Sarah, who is a fashion icon in her own right, is the new face of Jordache Jeans. Despite having her looks constantly critiqued - and occasionally criticized - Sarah is able to laugh at herself.

Two months ago her ensemble at the 2015 Met Gala included a flame-inspired hat from Philip Treacy, which spawned thousands of memes. And not only did Sara see them - she really enjoyed them.

'The one thing that I saw, which was so amazing - my son showed it to me - was my headpiece cooking Rihanna like an egg,' she said before adding: 'Can I tell you something though? I never saw the headpiece as flames, I never saw it!'
