Flirting with kryptonite: New Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice pictures show Bruce Wayne cozying up to Wonder Woman and taking on Superman in reinforced suit

New images from the hotly anticipated movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice spill some beans about what fans can expect from the showdown between the two iconic superheroes.

For a start off, Batman decides to take on Superman at his own game by using kryptonite to reinforce his armored suit.

And it's clear that sparks will fly between Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman as they flirt and skirt around their secret identities.

The film, directed by Zack Snyder, stars Ben Affleck, 42, as Batman with Man Of Steel star Henry Cavill, 32, reprising his Superman role.

Israeli actress Gal Gadot joins in the adventure as Wonder Woman while Jesse Eisenberg plays Lex Luthor and Amy Adams returns as Lois Lane.

Although the movie isn't scheduled for release until March 2016 but there's already fever pitch excitement among fans about the war between the Caped Crusader and the Man Of Steel.

It's already clear that the battle will be a bloody one as the teaser trailer released in April has Batman taunting Superman, saying: 'Do you bleed? You will.'

The showdown is prompted by unrest amongst the people over what kind of superhero they want on their side.

In new quotes given to EW.com who first published the pictures, Cavill gives his take on the plot line.

'I like to think that Man of Steel was the perspective of the world from Clark, Kal-El, looking at the world and trying to exist with in it,' he said. 'Batman v Superman is definitely more mankind’s perspective of Superman.'

There's a more human side, too, to Bruce Wayne who in another new picture is clearly flirting with Diana Prince, or Wonder Woman, at a society function.

It's an angle Affleck approved of.

'I love the fact that there was this Thomas Crowne Affair, Bond-y sexy scene that they wrote about two people who are pretending to be two different people who each know the secrets of the other person,' he told EW.com.

Snyder, who directed Cavill in 2013's Man Of Steel, has been working on the Batman V Superman movie since 2011.

He's signed up to make two more films about The Justice League band of superheroes that will see him working again with Affleck and Cavill and he acknowledges their universe has taken over his.

'It’ll be five years by the time the movie comes out,' Snyder said. 'And then if everything goes to plan it’ll be another five years of Justice League.'

'I’ll be 10 years of superheroes by the end of this.'
