Subway Jared dumped from kid's charity as child pornography raid highlights his ties to foundation head with disturbing past

  • Subway ended its 15-year relationship with Jared Fogle on Tuesday, after investigators raided his home in a child pornography investigation
  • On Wednesday, a kid's charity said they will no longer be working with the Jared Foundation - Fogle's non-profit to beat childhood obesity
  • The raid comes just two months after the former executive director of the Jared Foundation was arrested on child pornography charges
  • According to court records, it appears Russell Taylor shot many of the videos in his own homes
  • Investigators say that Taylor, 43, also sent images depicting bestiality to an unidentified woman

Jared Fogle's life as a squeaky-clean spokesman for Subway has come crashing down, after the FBI raided his home on Tuesday in relation to a child pornography investigation.

Just hours after a special task-force served the weight-loss icon with a search warrant, Subway ended its more than 15-year relationship with the spokesman and now a child's charity is doing the same.

Fogle became a household name in the the late 1990s, when he lost 245 pounds eating an all-Subway diet and started working as a spokesman for the company - going on to amass a $15million fortune.

Hiding his face: Authorities say Fogle has not been charged with any crime. He was seen later in the day leaving the home wearing a blue rain jacket, and getting into a black Lexus with his attorney

On Wednesday, officials with the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) program told TMZ they will no longer work with Jared in light of the investigation.

They said they had already stopped planning events with his childhood obesity charity in April, when investigators found more than 400 child pornography videos at the home of then Jared Foundation executive director Russell Taylor. CATCH and the Jared Foundation had been working together since 2011.

While authorities have not officially confirmed what they were looking for in Fogle's house on Tuesday, several reports say that the 37-year-old is a suspect in a child pornography investigation.

However, police say Fogle has not been charged with any crime.

In a statement on Tuesday, Subway said that they believe the search is related to 'a prior investigation of a former Jared Foundation employee' - no doubt Taylor who was charged with producing and possessing child pornography in May.

The raid on Fogle's home is now bringing to light more disturbing details from the search of Taylor's home, and how his arrest may be connected to his famous former employer.

According to court documents detailing the April 29 raid on Taylor's Indianapolis home, investigators found more than 400 child pornography videos involving both boys and girls as young as 9 years old.

Investigators wrote that many of the videos appeared to be shot in bedrooms and bathrooms at Taylor's former and current homes.

'Many of these videos showed the exposed genitals or pubic area of the children,' court records report, adding that the 'minors did not appear to be aware that they were being filmed.'

So far, four minors have been identified as victims in the case.

Some of the videos were found on thumb drives in Taylor's office which appeared to have a link to Fogle or his foundation.

Police wrote that one drive contained 'commercially made child pornography from Eastern Europe similar to that seized on other investigations' and 'revealed a document field with Taylor's employer listed in the file name.'

The seized 'videos of child pornography and child erotica were recovered as were documents related to his employment as director of a foundation,' court documents detail.

Authorities first started investigating Taylor after receiving a tip from a woman who had been exchanging sexual text messages with the suspect.

She became concerned and called police after Taylor sent her a message, asking if she wanted to see pictures of young girls.

And there were also concerns Taylor had an interest in bestiality, according to court documents, which state that he sent an unnamed person images showing a 'dog licking the nude genital area of an adult female'.

However, Taylor has not been charged with any crimes related to bestiality.

Following Taylor's arrest, the Jared Foundation cut all ties with the former executive director and Fogle issued a statement saying he was 'shocked' by the allegations.

Taylor was formally charged in court on May 4 with seven counts of producing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography, and ordered held at the Marion County jail.

He attempted suicide while behind bars on May 6, but survived and was rushed to an Indianapolis area hospital to be put on life support.

Tim Horty, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office, told the Indianapolis Star on Tuesday that Taylor's health is improving and he is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals.

Authorities have not yet confirmed if there is a connection between the Taylor case and the search of Fogle's Zionsville, Indiana home on Tuesday.

Investigators with the FBI, State Police and Postal Service showed up at the home around 6:30am Tuesday morning to conduct the raid, after Fogle's wife and two young children left for the day.

Fogle was detained outside the home while they worked for hours bringing computer hard-drives and other electronics and documents out of the house and into a waiting police trailer for analysis.

An FBI spokesman confirmed that the agency is conducting a criminal investigation in the area, but would not comment further on the search.

However, law enforcement sources confirmed to CBS News that Fogle is indeed a suspect in a child pornography investigation.

Fogle's attorney Ron Elberger also confirmed the FBI search, saying 'Jared has been cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation of certain unspecified activities and looks forward to its conclusion.'

Jacob Schrader, 19, one of Fogle's neighbors told the Indianapolis Star that the spokesman was a 'private guy' but would wave and smile whenever he went to get his mail.

Weight-loss icon: Fogle became the face for Subway in the late 1990s, after losing some 245 pounds eating nothing but their sandwiches

Fogle was a 425-pound freshman at Indiana University when he decided to try a diet of all Subway sandwiches. He would eat one 6-inch Turkey sub and one foot-long veggie sub every day and lost 84 pounds in the first three months.

When his roommate, Ryan Coleman, wrote an article for the student newspaper about the unusual weight loss program, Subway reached out to Fogle to become a spokesman for the company.

Prior to his suspension from the company on Tuesday, Fogle continued to speak on Subway's behalf and had taped more than 300 commercials.

In his famous Subway advertisements, Fogle would hold up a pair of his old 62-inch jeans to show how he lost more than half of his body mass.

As news broke of the FBI sweep of Fogle's home Tuesday morning, a rumor about the Subway guy's past resurfaced.

In 2007, a source told Best Week Ever that Fogle used to run a black market porn video rental business out of his dorm room, while he was a student at Indiana University.

According to the source, the porn collection was 'vast and extensive' and something Fogle took 'pretty seriously' - charging fellow students a dollar a day to rent them.

The source also claimed that Fogle's legendary Subway diet stemmed from his 'extreme laziness' and the need to man the booming porn business in his room.

Subway allegedly opened a branch in his building and it was 'the closest fast food available'.

At the time the report was published in 2007, Subway reps told TMZ that they had no knowledge of the story.

Fogle was married to pediatric nurse Elizabeth Christie from 2001 until 2007. In 2009, he started dating teacher Katie McLaughlin, who he married the following year. The couple reportedly have two young children together.
