Rosie Perez leaving chat show The View in order to 'pursue full time love of acting'

Rosie Perez is leaving her hosting gig at The View.

According to a Tuesday report from Deadline, the 50-year-old star is leaving the daytime chat show to pursue other endeavors and is expected to talk about her exit on Wednesday's episode.

The online showbiz publication reports the star is expected to talk about her exit on Wednesday's episode and her final day will be during the final original show of the season airing August 6.

Executive Producer Bill Wolff addressed the exodus in an email to the staff of the programme as he wrote: 'Our friend Rosie Perez has decided to leave the show to pursue full time her love for acting.'

Rosie joined the show in September of last year along with political commentator Nicolle Wallace.

She famously burst on to the scene as the choregrapher to the Fly Girls on comedy show In Living Color in the early Nineties.

The Puerto Rican-American actress went on to have a successful film career starring in cult classics like White Men Can't Jump and It Could Happen To You before later starring in 2008 comedy Pineapple Express.

According to Deadline there is no word on the future of 43-year-old author Wallace, but Raven-Symone and Whoopi Goldberg are slated to return.

The 29-year-old former star of That's So Raven became a co-host just last month.

No doubt Rosie is ready to get back in front of the camera in a different capacity as she made her name on the silver screen.

The Road To El Dorado actress will be starring in Five Nights In Maine, which is set for release this year.

The drama also stars David Oyelowo, Dianne Wiest, Teyonah Parris, Bill Raymond, Hani Furstenberg, Bobby Moreno and Faith Fay.
