'Let the iron be the alarm clock': Arnold Schwarzenegger, 67, hits the gym one last time in Japan before flying home to LA

It's been an exhausting world press tour for Terminator Genisys.

But 67-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger looked as fresh as a daisy throughout - and now we know why.

The action star posted a video to his Instagram account revealing the first thing he does every morning while on the road: hit the gym.

Wearing a pair of blue shorts and a grey sweat-soaked Chicago Police T-shirt, the Governator can be seen powering his way around the high-rise Tokyo gym during his early start.

He doesn't even stop for a rest as he moves between the machines, finishing one set before immediately moving on to another.

Grunting with exertion, he flies through quick reps on what appears to be back and shoulders day. It's obviously not his first set either, since he knows the machine is set to the correct weight without even checking.

Soon after, the Austrian Oak posted a farewell video to his Japanese fans as he walked through the airport to his Los Angeles bound flight.

'I want to thank my fans, I'm now going back home, and you have made my movie the number one movie internationally,' he says to the camera. 'Thank you very much for your loyalty. Love you all.'

Wearing beige slacks, brown shoes and a black gambling skull T-shirt, and carrying his brown leather jacket, Arnie greeted fans when he eventually reached LAX.

Despite the extensive promotional tour - with stops in North America, Europe and Asia - the film suffered a modest opening weekend at the box office.

The franchise sequel finished in a mediocre third place for the Friday-Sunday opening weekend with a measly return of $27.5 million.

Among receiving poor reviews, the film just couldn't stand up to the success of Jurassic World and Pixar's Inside Out - even when both films had came out a few weeks prior.
