The Man With Two Brains

Steve Martin is on his best 'wild and crazy guy' form as the wonderfully named neurosurgeon Dr Hfuhruhurr.

He is unhappily married to hard-nosed gold-digger Kathleen Turner, but then his life changes for the better when he meets his soulmate - who just happens to be a disembodied brain (voiced by Sissy Spacek) residing in a glass jar in mad scientist David Warner's laboratory.

The scenes between Martin and Spacek are affecting; only Martin can make the sight of a man whispering sweet nothings to a blob in a jar seem warmly romantic.

The comedy is brilliantly quirky and off-the-wall, throwing into sharp relief the less inventive stuff that Martin has been doing of late.
