Kate jets in to Cannes

Supermodel Kate Moss brought a bit of British glamour to the annual Cannes film festival last night when she attended a star studded premiere in the town.

The star had jetted into the French resort for the opening of Francis Ford Coppola's updated version of his classic Vietnam war movie Apocalypse Now.

Wearing a white three-quarter length fur style coat and green high-heeled shoes Moss thrilled the crowds as she posed for photographers on the red carpet.

Moss is among a number of celebrities in the south of France for the annual film showcase which is in its 54th year.

Coppola's Apocalypse Now was first released in 1979 but the director claimed the new version which has an extra 53 minutes is the definitive film.

The director who also brought us the Godfather trilogy said: 'The earlier version of the film had been cut for commercial reasons.

'We were under pressure for it to be a war action adventure movie rather than a more personal film. We cut it to be an action war movie because we were frightened that the film would not gain acceptance,' he said.

Coppola's son, Roman, is also showing a film at the Festival entitled 'C Q' which tells of his experiences growing up in a household dominated by the movie business.
