Stars of Manson's Girls TV movie recreate intense moments between Charles Manson and hippie follower Linda Kasabian during beach shoot in Malibu
Filming is underway on a new TV movie about Charles Manson and the hippie girls who followed him.
On Tuesday, the leading actors Jeff Ward, as Manson, and Mackenzie Mauzy, as Linda Kasabian, were seen shooting scenes on a beach in Malibu.
In an intense moment, Ward, in character, is seen pretending to hold a drowned little girl in the ocean, letting out a scream of anguish as he lifts the lifelike blonde-haired doll out of the water.

Intense: Jeff Ward was seen standing in the Pacific Ocean off Malibu on Tuesday holding a prop doll as he filmed a dramatic scene for the Lifetime movie Manson's Girls
Anguish: The actor, who plays Charles Manson, was seen in the water screaming out as he held the drowned 'child' with the ocean lapping around his chest
Set up: While the crew wore wetsuits to protect them from the cold water, Ward, who has appeared in TV's The Mentalist, was dressed only in white cotton trousers
In between scenes, the two stars are seen wrapped in toweling robes as they try to stay warm, which was tough for Ward because he was soaking wet.
Mauzy, who played Rapunzel in the film Into The Woods, was dressed in 1960s style in a psychedelic bikini top and cut-off denim shorts
She wore her strawberry blonde hair long and loose.
Her character Kasabian is the focus of the Lifetime movie that shows how she first met Manson and 'the family' and then gets drawn into their criminal activities.
Hippie chick: Mackenzie Mauzy stars as Manson follower Linda Kasabian, who joined 'the family' when she was 20 and was involved in the 'helter skelter' murders in August 1969
Swapping notes: The two actors wrapped themselves in long toweling robes when cameras weren't rolling
Dressed for the 1960s: Mauzy, who played Rapunzel in last year's Into The Woods, wore a psychedelic bikini top, patterned cropped shirt and cut-off denims and left her long hair loose
Kasabian was just 20 when she became embroiled in one of the most brutal murders ever to happen Hollywood - the killing of actress Sharon Tate and her unborn baby.
The drug-fueled savage murder spree known as 'helter skelter' in August 1969 left three others dead and prompted Kasabian to leave the Manson ranch commune.
She later testified in court against the killers Leslie Van Houten and Susan Atkins - and Manson who, though not present at the killings, was charged with orchestrating them - in return for immunity from prosecution.
Cult leader: Charles Manson, seen left in December 1969, was convicted of orchestrating a series of grisly murders by his 'family' members, thanks to the testimony of former follower Linda Kasabian, right.
A day's work: The pretty blonde carried scene notes and a pair of sandals in one hand and her cell phone in the other as she walked across the sand
Brrrr! Ward was seen shivering as he tried to warm up after spending so much time in the water
Body warmth: He got a big hug from his co-star as Mauzy helped the soaked-to-the-skin warm up
Getting along: The actors seemed relaxed as they chatted away on the beach in Malibu
Manson and his groupies are the subject of a number of TV projects currently.
David Duchovny's NBC series Aquarius, which has been renewed for a second season, revolves around The Manson Family as he plays a cop who goes undercover to track the cult.
It's also been reported that American Psycho writer Bret Easton Ellis and director Rob Zombie are also developing a limited series for Fox about the people and events connected to the Manson murders.
Witness for the prosecution: Mauzy's character was instrumental in getting Manson and 'family' members Leslie Van Houten and Susan Atkins convicted for the murder of actress Sharon Tate and her unborn baby
Waiting game: Mauzy spent a lot of time standing around waiting to be called for her scene
Rugged: Ward channeled the magnetism of Mason as he strode into the water wearing only a clinging pair of white cotton trousers
