NYSE halted all trading for 'technical reasons' at 11:32am and only reopened at 3:10pm - but says the problem is an internal one and not the result of a cyberattack. It comes as tens of thousands of United Airlines passengers were stranded at U.S. airports on Wednesday morning after all of the carrier's flights were grounded nationwide due to a computer system glitch. The Wall Street Journal was also left unable to publish after its systems came under attack and has been forced to switch to an alternative site design.

Michael Johnson, 68, and his son, Joseph Johnson (right), 30, a certified pilot, were traveling over South Carolina on Tuesday morning when their Cessna C150 was involved in the crash with the F-16 jet. The impact tore the smaller aircraft apart, raining down plane parts and debris on Berkeley County (left). The pair both died in the crash, but officials are yet to locate Joseph Johnson's body. Now, a relative has revealed that the crash was the second fatality to strike the Johnson family in just four days following a double homicide on Saturday. In the earlier incident, Michael Johnson's brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Beverly Johnson, were shot dead at their Missouri home, the men's sister, Connie Stallworth said.

A former Miss Nevada is facing a string of meth-related drug charges, according to a criminal complaint filed this week. Katherine Nicole Rees, 30, was crowned in 2006 before being stripped of her title after lewd photos of her surfaced. In September, Rees sold meth to a man ID'd as J. Peacock, police say. According to the Las Vega Review-Journal, Rees was found with 5.3 grams of methamphetamine a month later.

Police were called to the house in Newburyport, Massachusetts, at the weekend following an anonymous call concerning the welfare of the girl. What they found was described as 'deplorable', with piles of trash, toys and clothes in every room and swarming with flies. There were animal feces on the floor and one bedroom - believed to be that of the little girl - had a bed with no mattress that was covered in rubbish. The girl is now with child services as her mother Kristen D. Paquette, 32, and grandmother Debra A. Paquette, 54, face charges of child endangerment.

The sprawling medium-security Mount McGregor Correctional Facility in upstate New York consists of more than a hundred structures including a gym and a chapel and even has its own lake embedded in its picturesque surroundings. The steel cell doors, rock-hard beds and lengthy corridors are still in place but, with enormous rooms, workshops and dining areas, the prison could be turned into an enormous property. Despite its potential, no developers have come forward - and the economic development office says July 7 is the deadline to submit bids to turn the prison in the Adirondack foothills into a new enterprise.

Ronnie Chapman (pictured top right), of West Virginia, was fined $300 Tuesday after wildlife officials discovered a six-point buck and a spike deer living in his mobile home over the weekend. Chapman explained that he found one of the deer bleeding to death in his yard a couple of years ago and nursed it back to health.
