Rock chic! Rose McGowan wears statement tank top and wedge heels as she strolls through LAX

She's never shied away from spicing up an ordinary outfit with a few quirky touches.

But on Tuesday, Rose McGowan scaled back with a rocker chic look that consisted of a statement tank top when she arrived at LAX.

The 41-year-old was thoroughly tuned into her large white headphones when she strolled through arrivals with her moss green suitcase in tow.

Rose continued with the edgy theme with a pair of tight black trousers and a jean jacket that was tied around her waistline.

She finished off the look with her trusty wedge sneakers, while shouldering a black purse and adding a punch of colour with her glossy pink lips.

Rose made her way through the airport clutching her phone, and as she descended down the escalator, glanced down at her high tech device.

While awaiting her ride, the actress took some time to take a phone call, before greeting what appeared to be her driver with a smile.

Rose has been making waves this summer.

The wife of Dave Detail recently made her directorial debut as she released Dawn, a short film about sexuality and youth in the 1960's.

The 17-minute film is available in its entirety for viewers to watch on YouTube and speaking about the film to The Creators Project, Rose explained the cautionary tale for girls in some detail.

She revealed: 'It's about a young girl in 1961 living under societal constraints and parental control; what we do, even in tiny, accidental ways, when we raise girls...'

Adding: 'How we raise them to not have their instincts of self-preservation when they most need it, because the fear of being impolite is really deeply ingrained and it can have tragic consequences.'

Rose has always been very vocal about the double standards faced by women in Hollywood and last month caused a wave of controversy by revealing she had been asked to wear a push-up bra to audition opposite actor Adam Sandler.

It didn't take long for fans to guess that Rose was talking about Adam, when she posted an image of his demands alongside her tweet that read: 'casting note that came w/script I got today. For real. name of male star rhymes with Madam Panhandler hahahaha I die.'

The instructions on the casting note read: 'Wardrobe note: Black (or dark) form-fitting tank that shows off cleavage (push-up bras encouraged). And formfitting leggings or jeans. Nothing white.'

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly following the reveal, Rose said that she wasn't trying to 'vilify' Adam in posting the tweet, but merely wanted to highlight the stupidity of Hollywood.

'It was just so dumb. I was offended by the stupidity more than anything. I was offended by the fact that went through so many people's hands and nobody red flagged it.'
