The 45-year-old actress was a delight to behold in her striking sleeveless ensemble, which allowed her to show off her slim legs, elongated in a pair of teetering metally strappy sandals.

Her brunette locks were coiffed into their typical elegant and bouncy curls, and her make-up was as ravishing as ever.

Husband and star of the Ant-Man movie Michael, meanwhile, was dapper in a dark grey suit and fun purple tie.

Grieving Michael and Catherine have been in the UK in recent days for various promotional activities, with the Welsh beauty sticking firmly by her husband's side.

Michael arrived in the country slightly later than his wife of 14 years, looking downcast as he kept a low profile while making his way through Heathrow Airport on Monday.

Meanwhile, main man Paul Rudd caused a stir when he arrived in Leicester Square, with the crowd cheering when they caught a glimpse of the former Friends funnyman.

Ant-Man marks a major departure for Paul after a string of comedies including This Is 40 and Anchorman.

The film, directed by Peyton Reed, with a screenplay by Edgar Wright, Joe Cornish, Adam McKay and Rudd, is expected to be another blockbuster success for Marvel studios.

Set several months after the events of Avengers: Age of Ulron, thief Scott Lang (Rudd) must help his mentor Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) is safeguarding the Ant-Man technology.

Paul, 46, is excited about his new superhero role, telling ES magazine that he was keen to prove he's not just Mr Nice Guy and can showcase a darker side to his personality.

'When I was cast, people went ‘Huh?’ And anyway, I’m not that nice — it’s one of those things that reveals itself over time', he said.

The actor also revealed it was tough getting into shape for the role, for which he had to completely overhaul his diet and his lifestyle.

'It prompted a whole mental shift — everything was centred around health and fitness', he told the magazine. 'Going out to dinner was a challenge. I would find myself saying, "I have to do it for my job" — it made me feel a little bit less of a d*****bag.'

Rudd praised his co-star and screen mentor Michael when quizzed about the film on the red carpet.

'Michael brings legitimacy and gravitas. I would have flashbacks of him in other movies halfway through filming scenes,' he said.

The father of one, who worked out and went on a diet for a year, said he even enjoyed wearing the superhero's skintight costume.

He said: 'I think it's the coolest superhero costume, but I'm biased. Wearing it was really awesome. It wasn't uncomfortable and it just made me feel like a superhero. I would stand differently.'

He continued: 'It took a few people to help me get in to it but it lit up and did all sorts of stuff. It was like a second skin eventually - one that didn't breathe that well but was at least flexible.'

Evangeline Lilly, who plays Hank's daughter Hope, was unable to attend the premiere as she is eight months pregnant.

Ant-Man opens in UK cinemas on July 17.
