Before the world learnt of Kourtney Kardashian's devastating news that she and father of her three children Scott Disick had split, the Kardashian army had already swung into action to do whatever they could to make the impossibly hard time a little easier.

Little sister Kim and husband Kanye West immediately mobilized an action plan to give Kourtney same space taking her oldest Mason with them to New York over July Fourth.

While the 36-year-old - who has not made an official statement but multiple publications' sources have confirmed the split - dealt with her heartbreak in Malibu with daughter Penelope, 2, and baby Reign, six months, Kim and Kanye treated little Mason to a weekend of fun in New York.

Mason, who at five is older enough to realise something is wrong, got a chance to enjoy the holiday weekend with his cousin North, 2.

The Wests and Mason marked the country's independence along with former NBA star Scottie Pippen, his wife, Larsa, and daughter Sophia, 6.

Posting a picture of the children together on Instagram, Kim spoke of the importance of friends and tagged Kourtney in.

Larsa, who is Kim and Kourtney's long term pal, echoed Kim's sentiments: 'Sophia, Mason, and North. They don't hangout everyday but when they're together they're always holding hands and hugging just like us @kimkardashian @kourtneykardash.'

The families then spent the day and night of July Fourth abroad a yacht owned by friends J.R. and Loren Ridinger, which sailed around the Hudson River so the children could see the fireworks.

According to the New York Post, it is not just Kim doing everything she can to help her sister.

Kourtney's brother-in-law Kanye has also stepped up in the wake of the collapse of Kourtney's nine year relationship with Scott.

A source told the paper's Page Six: 'Kanye took Mason and Sophia to the movies after Kim and Larsa went to lunch at Cipriani.'
