Joni Mitchell 'has made remarkable progress and is expected to make a full recovery' after suffering aneurysm

Joni Mitchell is expected to make a full recovery after suffering an aneurysm in late March.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the legendary 71-year-old singer/songwriter has made 'remarkable progress' over the last few months.

Attorney Rebecca Thyne, who was assigned to the Both Sides Now case, visited Mitchell at her home to see her progress as she noted Mitchell was feeding herself upon her arrival.

The documents also state that long-time friend, Leslie Morris, has been taking care of the singer and Mitchell would like her pal to continue as her conservator.

The most important thing from Thyne's account would probably be that Mitchell is 'expected to make a full recovery' and was making 'remarkable progress.'

This was drastically different news than the update given by friend and fellow musician David Crosby nearly two weeks ago, who claimed she was not speaking.

The 73-year-old founding member of The Byrds gave an update on his friend's health and even shed a little more light on what sent her into care during an interview with HuffPost Live on June 26.

Crosby revealed: 'To my knowledge, she is not speaking yet.'

He also added that he has not spoken with Mitchell but shared that she is no longer at the hospital as he explained: 'She is home, she is in care, she is recovering.'

As the reason for her stay in the hospital has not been disclosed, Crosby claims that the Both Sides Now singer had suffered an aneurysm.

'And nobody found her for awhile,' he added. 'She's going to have to struggle back from it the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury.'

Days later Mitchell's conservator confirmed it was an aneurysm that sent the folk singer to the hospital in March.

Morris acknowledged the aneurysm in a statement posted on Mitchell's website on Sunday, providing the first significant details on Mitchell's health status in the months since an ambulance was sent to her Los Angeles house to take her to the hospital.

Morris says Mitchell is speaking — and speaking well — while recovering at home.

She's unable to walk, but is expected to soon and make a full recovery.

Morris was appointed Mitchell's conservator in May when a judge decided Mitchell couldn't make health care decisions for herself and had no relatives who could serve as conservator.

In late April it was reported that Mitchell was 'alert' and fully responsive in hospital, her representatives have announced, disputing earlier claims that she was in a coma and unable to respond to her loved ones.

Mitchell, 71, who is known for leading a reclusive life, was said at the time to be unconscious at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, four weeks after she collapsed at her Bel-Air home.
