The drama reached a crescendo when they were forced to eat hand-written letters from their loved ones as a consequence, which caused several tenants to break down in tears.

Stressed: Nick struggles to make a choice between adding prize money or saving a house-mate's letter
During Monday night's episode, Big Brother gathered the housemates on the sofas for the day’s second task - a tombola and eight letters from home addressed to each tenant.
Each housemate was forced to roll the tombola, which contained ‘win, choose or lose’ balls.
If they picked the ‘win’ ball, they added five thousand pounds to the prize fund and were able to read a letter of their choice.
With the ‘choose’ ball they had to decide between adding £5000 to the prize fund or saving a letter. However, if they chose the ‘lose’ ball they must simply choose a letter to sacrifice.

Not happy: Danny plucked a ‘choose’ ball and saved Nick’s letter - but clearly wanted to see his own
Braving the dilemma, Chloe began and selected a ‘lose’ ball - and chose to eat Joel’s letter, telling him: 'Your mum came in on the Time Warp task, you got a message from home which the rest of us haven’t.'
Following suit, Cristian selected a ‘choose’ ball and saved Chloe’s letter, much to her visible relief. Especially after being denied a phone call from a previous task with Simon.
Third up, Danny plucked a ‘choose’ ball and saved Nick’s letter. But, when drama queen Harry picked a ‘lose’ ball, she sacrificed Jack’s letter which saw emotions run wild.

Bursting into tears, Harry obviously buckled under the stress - which, in turn, left Jack in one of his famous tantrums.
Adding to the dynamic, Jack selected a ‘choose’ ball, saving Danny’s letter, while Joel picks a ‘lose’ ball and eats Sam’s letter.
Nick picks a ‘choose’ and saves Harry’s letter. Sam picks a ‘win’ ball. Cristian’s letter is the only one left. £5000 is added to the prize fund.

As a result of all the emotional turmoil, Chloe, Nick, Cristian and Jack gathered in the sky room to talk about their letters.
'I would've really appreciated mine,' said Jack. 'I know we're close to the finish line, but I've had a tough week and could've done with some moral support.'
Meanwhile, Chloe - who may well win the series - expressed gratitude for her heartfelt note from her boyfriend. 'It's excatly what I needed,' she smiled.
However, Joel and Cristian later mused about the competitiveness has increased: 'Everyone’s got money on their mind. This series should be called ‘Selfish’ or ‘Selfless’.
'That’s the process now.'
Another tantrum: 'I would've really appreciated mine,' said Jack. 'I know we're close to the finish line, but I've had a tough week and could've done with some moral support.'
