Miranda Lambert forced to cancel Calgary Stampede concert due to 'serious inflammation' of her vocal cords

Country star Miranda Lambert has has to cancel her concert at the Calgary Stampede because she's suffering from vocal cord issues.

The singer, 31, was due to perform on Thursday night at Alberta, Canada's signature event but with just a little more than 24 hours to go she pulled the plug at her doctor's advice.

Lambert has 'serious inflammation' of her vocal cords and in a statement she told her Canadian fans: 'I'm so sorry that I can't be at Stampede this week, but I'll be back in Calgary just as soon as I can for all of my Stampede fans.'

After the news broke, Lambert, 31, took to Twitter to thank her fans for their messages of support.

'I can’t believe this is happening. Thanks for all your well wishes, I promise I'll do everything to get better soon!' she tweeted Wednesday.

Blake Shelton's wife has been touring almost non-stop so far this year and the next scheduled gig is on July 17 at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot.

The musician will reschedule her Calgary concert although it's not known when that will be and fans have been told to hold on to their tickets.

Meanwhile, Shelton will be performing as planned at the Stampede on Friday night. 

Lambert and Shelton, 39, who married in 2011, live in Tishomingo, Oklahoma

In April, Lambert took home Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year at the 50th annual Academy Of Country Music Awards in Texas.

She was the leading nominee with eight nominations at the awards ceremony but lost out in the Entertainer of the Year category to show co-host Luke Bryan.
