Today Kellie Maloney revealed her relief at not having to live a lie anymore, but admitted she does sometimes miss boys' nights out.

And she revealed that despite embracing her femininity there are some aspects of her former life she was sad to leave behind.

Speaking about what she misses since becoming a woman, she told Metro: 'Maybe nights out with the boys - male bonding. But I find female bonding friendlier. There's maybe a bit of bitchiness but I'm getting used to it. It's mainly about what other women might be wearing.'

'It's amusing. Girls are very loyal to each other. Men talk about conquests and what they want to buy or achieve, girls talk more about family, relationships - and clothes.'

In August 2014  Kellie shocked the macho world of boxing by announcing her decision to change sex and live as a woman, having retired from the sport in October 2013.

Just two weeks later she went into the Celebrity Big Brother house alongside TOWIE's Lauren Goodger, former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan, Benefit's Street's White Dee and Edele from B*witched.

At the time she revealed that she already felt like a winner, just for being accepted by the public as a part of the show.

Twice-married Maloney, who as boxing promoter Frank helped Lennox Lewis to become world heavyweight champion, also released a candid autobiography last month.

The book, Frankly Kellie, detailed her astonishing transformation and the incredible support she has received from her three daughters throughout.

Despite missing her old dynamic with the boys, Kellie said: 'I find female bonding friendlier. There's maybe a bit of bitchiness but I'm getting used to it. It's mainly about what other women might be wearing.

Today she revealed how penning her story had forced her to reflect on her life - and the result was almost cathartic.

She said: 'It made me look at things I've done in the past that I haven't liked - lying to everyone about my gender issue, my comments about certain sections of the community and my abrupt behaviour as Frank, not really caring about anyone but himself. It was like therapy.'

Kellie - who has eldest daughter Emma Young, 36, from her first marriage, and Sophie, 20, and Libby, 14, from her second marriage to Tracey Maloney, 48 - believes her bond with her children is now stronger than ever.

The journey has not been an easy one for Kellie, who was left in a coma after facial reconstruction surgery in November last year. Kellie had wanted work done to her nose, eyelids, cheeks and a facelift to appear more feminine.

She spent four days in intensive care in Belgium after reportedly suffering an extreme reaction.

Speaking about the ordeal, she revealed that it had given her a new perspective on life.

She said: 'I was happy to be alive when I was told exactly what happened to me. I'm just going to enjoy every days as it comes.'
