She's been replaced! Newcomer Elodie Yung takes over Elektra role Jennifer Garner made famous opposite Ben Affleck in 2003's Daredevil 

Elodie Yung, 34, will take over the role of deadly assassin Elektra that was portrayed by Jennifer Garner, 43, on the big screen in 2003's Daredevil.

Marvel Television announced on Tuesday that Yung will portray the mercenary ninja in the second season of the Netflix series Daredevil starring Charlie Cox as the blind superhero.

'After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity,' said Jeph Loeb, Daredevil executive producer and head of Marvel Television in a statement.

'Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for,' Loeb added.

The French actress previously appeared in the 2009 sequel District 13: Ultimatum, 2011's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and in the 2013 movie G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Garner, 43, played Elektra in the 2003 film Daredevil that also starred starred Ben Affleck as the title character.

Affleck and Garner fell in love while shooting Daredevil and last month announced they were divorcing after 10 years of marriage and three children together.

The Elektra Natchios character was referenced briefly during the first season of Daredevil on Netflix.

The show's Netflix feed also announced the arrival of the character created by comic book legend Frank Miller.

'An old friend is coming to Hell's Kitchen,' the tweet said along with an image of an Okinawan sai with a red ribbon piercing a newspaper clipping of Daredevil.

The traditional martial arts weapon consisting of a baton with two curved prongs has long been Elektra's weapon of choice.

The character known for her beauty and deadliness has been a fan favorite among Marvel Comics fans and Elektra on Tuesday was trending worldwide on Twitter following the announcement

The show announced last month that Jon Bernthal also had joined the cast for season two as Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher.

Daredevil debuted in April on Netflix and it was quickly renewed for a second season that will premiere in 2016.
