Snoop faces gun rap

Controversial rapper Snoop Dogg faces serious charges after police discovered guns on bodyguards escorting him to an awards show.

Officers swooped on the armoured convoy as it arrived at the Black Entertainment Television Awards in Los Angeles last night.

Snoop, 32, who has previously spent time in jail for drugs, could face charges if it is proved he was employing armed guards.

He performed at the Kodak Theatre unaware that outside police had arrested 13 men.

The police impounded several weapons, bullet-proof vests and three vehicles, including an armoured truck.

So far Snoop, real name Calvin Broadus, who is playing Huggy Bear in the film remake of Starsky & Hutch, has not been questioned or charged.

But if he is found to have violated any law he could be put back in jail for up to 10 years.

Three men have been charged and at least one bodyguard has been released without charge.

In April, Snoop narrowly escaped death when three men opened fire on his car in LA, injuring a bodyguard.
