A tiger with a medical condition has taken to having fun in a swimming pool as a way of strengthening its muscles.

The big cat named Caesar was captured on camera enjoying itself with a volunteer at the Marakapula Reserve in South Africa.

In the clip the animal appears to be completely at ease in the water and makes the most of its rehabilitation period.

It swims with the volunteer who attempts to play with it – strategically disguising the fact that the animal is undergoing therapy.

The tiger also plays with a plastic bottle, which is thrown for it by another volunteer standing beside the pool.

And a large ball, which the volunteer in the pool uses to attract the attention of the predator and encourage it to move around the water.

Humorously, the big cat even takes to splashing the water on occasion.

Writing on YouTube alongside the video, the zoo said: ‘Because of Caesar’s medical condition, he swims in the pool in order to strengthen his leg.’

The tiger, which is only 9-month-old, will double in size once its therapy is complete.
