WITH breathtaking disingenuousness, Cherie Blair's lifestyle guru Carole Caplin suggests that the Prime Minister and his barrister wife are so dull that even if she were to write that book, there would be little to fill it.

'There was a rumour going around that I was going to write about the Blairs,' said Carole, addressing a ladies' lunch in Leeds. 'Not only is this untrue, but even if I did, it would barely fill half a page. They are two extremely nice, down-to-earth people.' Having damned the Blairs with this faint praise, Caplin reveals that she is to be the subject of an entire Panorama programme entitled The Real Carole Caplin.

'I cannot believe that the producers of a television programme of the calibre and reputation of Panorama are wasting their money on me as a subject when the world is in the state it is in today,' she gushes.

Not entirely convincing from a woman who has already co-operated with one excruciating documentary and who clearly believes that the world still revolves around her.
