Ferry says golf clubs 'offensive weapons'

A golfer was told she could not board a ferry bound for France because her clubs were classified as 'offensive weapons'.

Lyn Skinner was ordered out of her car and feared she would be arrested when a port security officer spotted her golf clubs on the back seat

He told her they could be used as offensive weapons and should be registered with the ferry operator.

Mrs Skinner, 53, from Worcester Park, Surrey, managed to convince the officer to let her board, but not before being made to feel 'like a criminal'.

'I'm 100 per cent behind security but this was absolutely ridiculous,' she said.

The Port Authority and Brittany Ferries will now conduct an investigation into the incident.
