Gwyneth Paltrow looks ravishing in daring red plunging gown as she leads the stars at Valentino's haute couture runway show in Rome

She's the A-list Hollywood actress who's famously an all-American girl.

But Gwyneth Paltrow managed to bring Rome to a standstill as she stepped out in style on Thursday evening.

The stunning Oscar winner looked sensational in a Valentino gown as she arrived for the designer's Haute Couture Fall-Winter fashion show in the Italian capital.

Gwyneth, 42, opted to step away from her classic look to opt for a floaty red number with a very daring plunging neckline.

She made sure all eyes were on the dress - and her fabulous figure - by going without accessories and keeping her hair in her trademark straight blonde style.

The star was one of the big names to take a seat on the front row of the show, which coincided with the main celebration to mark the opening of a flagship Valentino store in Rome.

Alongside Gwyneth was fellow Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton.

Look red hot in a plunge neck gown like Gwyneth

As designers present their haute couture collections in Paris this week, celebs like Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong'o have flocked to the City of Lights to view the latest designs.

Gwyneth Paltrow joined her fellow A-listers as she sat front row at the Valentino show in a red plunge neck gown by the Italian brand. We're obsessed with the eye catching tomato red hue and loose fitting silhouette of the maxi dress from the Fall 2015 collection.

Keeping with the luxury label's signature bohemian look, the latest range seemed to be inspired by Greek gladiators, with toga-like one-shoulder frocks, lace-up sandals and ornate embellishments.

Sadly Gwyneth's scarlet number isn't available to the masses, but we've rounded up some strikingly similar styles from around the Web that are. Team with gold strappy heels and look like you just stepped off the red carpet.

The statuesque actress glided in to the event wearing another Valentino creation, which was a far cry from Gwyneth's risque gown.

Tilda opted for a high-neck white creation with long sleeves and happily chatted to press on the red carpet before taking in the new collection from the front row.

Socialite Olivia Palermo also attended and wowed in a sensational black tulle gown with a lace neck and ruffled centre-piece.

The preview left Valentino - who retired as lead designer of his brand - so thrilled, he jumped to his feet to give his creative directors Maria Grazia and Pierpaolo a standing ovation at the end of the presentation.
