The episode with Hudson is the first episode in season two of the NBC series that sees the former soldier take celebrities to some of the most remote and pristine places in the world for a 48-hour expedition.

In a teaser trailer for the series that premieres on July 13, Kate is seen about to abseil down the side of a mountain after tying a rope connected to her harness around a tree.

'I just hope the tree has me,' she says, adding 'oh my God' as she steps backwards.

Since survival in the wild is the name of the game, food is what's on hand as the actress discovers when Grylls place tiny insects in the palm of her hand.

'I really don't want to eat ants,' she says, as the adventurer responds by telling her 'they're delicious.'

'Mmmmm,' Hudson says gamely as she chews.

She's also seen watching warily as the survivalist plucks a plump pigeon for their supper.

'The excitement of being dropped into uncharted territory and tackling the wilderness head-on, in the way we do, can be both daunting and very draining, but it is also very empowering when we finally make it out in one piece, he said.
