  • Camilla was also in attendance and held a bantam crossbreed chick

Prince Charles made an adorable four-legged friend on Thursday, during a visit to the Welsh countryside.

Despite looking smart in a tailored double-breasted grey suit, the 66-year-old wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty as he was seen petting a baby piglet at Humble by Nature Farm in Monmouth, south Wales.

The heir to the British throne and wife Camilla, 67, visited the working estate, which was saved from closure in 2010 by TV presenter Kate Humble and her husband Ludo Graham, on day four of their week-long trip.

Not one to miss out on the action, the Duchess of Cornwall, resplendent in a dusty yellow summer jacket and Fifties-style white skirt, looked joyful as she held a tiny bantam crossbreed chick.

After stroking the cute hog and chatting to members of staff, animal lover Prince Charles, who donned a pair of stylish tortoiseshell sunglasses to protect his eyes from the sun, took part in a bush-skills class.

The future king squatted in the grass along with a group of children as he was taught how to make a camp fire.

Both Charles and Camilla seemed in high-spirits as they were guided around the farm, that houses a rural skills centre, shop, cafe and adventure playground, by television personality Kate Humble.

The 46-year-old Springwatch host looked relaxed in a dark denim jacket, plain V-neck t-shirt, pair of stone-coloured cargo pants and white pumps.

Attentive Charles appeared engrossed in the workings of the organic farm as he was seen pointing out different activities throughout their route.

Kate later led the royals into the farm shop where they were presented with an array of local produce.

Different cuts of meat were displayed on a wooden chopping board and explained to them.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are visiting the country as part of Wales Week, one of three dedicated five-day trips the pair make in the UK.

This expedition comes shortly after their visit to Scotland.

The focus of this year's Wales Week is enterprise and community, and as a result, visits to community enterprises and small businesses dominate the schedule.

Charles and Camilla are also hosting a number of receptions at Llwynywermod, their Welsh farmhouse near Llandovery.

Speaking about Wales Week, a Clarence House spokesperson said: 'The Prince and The Duchess always enjoy their annual summer visit to Wales.

'They are very much looking forward to engaging with communities in many different parts of the country, and to seeing the rich variety of Welsh enterprise.'
