In Indonesia there are ones that float, in Afghanistan there’s one dedicated entirely to birds, but when it comes to bizarre markets there's one in Hong Kong that takes some beating.

The Goldfish Market is a strange sight, with thousands of bagged fish of all shapes and colours lining the walls of the aquatic shops in Mong Kok.

The sale of goldfish has boomed over the last 40 years because of a lack of space for people to keep larger pets like cats and dogs.

Many of the shop owners are competitive aquarists, competing internationally and regionally at various competitions.

Visitors can explore the Aqua Art shop, run by the champion of the International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest 2007.

And several other notable competitors similarly own shops in the Hong Kong market.
