Tourist killed in Turkey bus crash

One German tourist was killed and 12 Germans injured yesterday when their minibus slid on wet road and turned over in western Turkey, the Anatolia news agency said.

The accident took place near the Aegean resort of Bodrum, around 800 kilometers (480 miles) southwest of Istanbul.

The tourists were on their way to an airport to return home after a two-week vacation in the Aegean resort town of Kusadasi, further north.

Anatolia identified the tourist who was killed as Kerstin Pornak, 33. No hometown was given.

Twelve other Germans and the Turkish driver were taken to hospitals, Anatolia reported. A 12-year old boy was reported to be in serious condition, private NTV television said.

In a separate road accident later Sunday, 18 Turks were killed when their bus collided with a truck near Istanbul, NTV said. Three other passengers were seriously injured.
