Taylor Swift has a well-earned reputation for going out of her way to show her fans appreciation - from staying longer at concerts for selfies to hosting gatherings at her home, complete with baked goods from scratch.

The latest to be touched by the generous 25-year-old singer-songwriter is Naomi Oakes, an 11-year-old from Arizona who was recently diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.

So aggressive is her form of cancer, Naomi has to remain in hospital for the entire length of her treatment - from six to nine months - which means missing the Taylor Swift '1989' concert in Phoenix on August 18.

Naomi's favorite song on the album is Bad Blood, a bold anthem about defeating a rival and moving on.

She has nevertheless adopted to the tune as her 'fight song' as she attempts to win the battle against leukemia.

Swift donated three installments of $15,000, plus an extra $5,000, bring the total to $50,000

'We are obviously scared and concerned for our girl, but she has been a trooper and is positive about getting better,' a relative wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to help deal with Naomi's medical expenses.

'We are so blessed to have the gospel in our lives as it gives us hope and faith in what is beyond this moment.

'I think she has a hard road to travel, we are honored to be with her for the difficult journey

Naomi's family made a YouTube video about her story and how Bad Blood was helping her through this time.

They changed some of the lyrics to make the song about 'getting rid of the bad blood'.

The video asked fellow Swifties to try and help get the attention of Swift, who is known for reading most of her fan messages online.

So, of course, the pop star eventually heard about Naomi.

Swift, who is in the middle of her tour and performed in Montreal on Tuesday night, donated to the Go Fund Me page and left a personal message.

She wrote: 'To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I'm sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Lets focus on getting you feeling better. I'm sending the biggest hugs to you and your family.'

Dude to donation restrictions on the website, Swift then sent through three installments of $15,000 and one made out to $5,000.

Her total donation was $50,000.

The money took Naomi's account to over $65,000

'Naomi was so amazed by Taylor Swift's donation and amazing shout out to her,' the family wrote on the page.

'Thank you Taylor Swift.

'You're an amazing caring person, and our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.'

The family also recorded the moment Naomi realized that Swift had sent her a message.

That video was also put on Youtube.

'I think I'm going to pass out,' she says from her hospital bed in the clip.

The song Bad Blood, which hit number one on the Billboard 100, is about a fellow female artist who Swift has said tried to sabotage one of her tours by poaching her staff - but has refused to say who it is.

Many have speculated that the subject is Katy Perry, who also dated Swift's ex, John Mayer.

Comparisons have been made to the Bad Blood lyric 'you'll say sorry just for show - if you live like that, you live with ghosts' and to a song called Ghost on Perry's most recent album, Prism.
