Six arrested in mass nightclub brawl

Furniture was thrown and glasses smashed as hundreds of festive partygoers fought outside a nightclub.

More than 40 officers were called to the "massive violent disorder" in Luton, a Bedfordshire Police spokeswoman said.

Officers from Bedford and Leighton Buzzard were called to assist local police in managing the incident outside the Liquid Nightclub, in Gordon Street, just after 1am.

The spokeswoman said: "Several hundred people were fighting, including furniture being thrown and glasses being smashed.

"Police believe it started inside the club and spilled out into the street."

Six people were arrested following the incident, which police describe as a "drunk-fuelled disorder".
