MATT WOOSNAM: Jonathan Woodgate is contemplating retirement after manager Aitor Karanka confirmed he will not play for Middlesbrough this season .
Talks are underway about a possible coaching role for the 35-year-old who has endured an injury-ravaged career and played only nine games last season.
Karanka said: 'I was speaking with him and the chairman is speaking with him. It’s about finding the best option for us and for Woody.

The move is the one of the biggest in the south London side's history and could help propel them further up the Premier League table following a 10th place finish last season.
Sevilla have completed the signing of Stoke midfielder Steven Nzonzi in a £7million deal.
The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Spanish side, who have inserted a £21.5m buy-out clause in his contract, after undergoing a medical on Thursday morning.
'Sevilla and Stoke City have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who arrived in Seville on Wednesday night,' said the club's website.
DANIEL PRESCOTT: Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admits midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is flattered by reports linking him with a Premier League move.

SIMON JONES: Watford are continuing discussions with Benjamin Stambouli as they look to complete the second part of their £10million double deal with Tottenham.
Etienne Capoue joined for £6m on Monday and 24-year-old Stambouli is receptive to following.
However, the Hornets have also identified Hamburg's Valon Behrami, 30, as another option, he is available for around £3m, and is due to arrive at Colney for a medical on Friday.

SIMON JONES: Fenerbahce are hopeful they can reach agreement with Manchester United for Robin van Persie after further talks on Wednesday.
The Turkish club had initially offered £4.7million for the 31-year-old striker who has been offered a three-year contract with the option of an extra year.
United value Van Persie, who has one year left on his contract, at £10m. The club insisted no deal was in place at the weekend but the Dutchman is understood to be considering the move rather than risk being on the periphery of the Red Devils' squad next season.
While Danilo is predominately a defender, he is more than capable of producing the spectacular up the other end, too.

Swansea have confirmed the move of young winger Kenji Gorre to Dutch side ADO Den Haag on a one-year loan deal.
Gorre, 20, signed a new three-year contract at the Liberty Stadium on Monday after making his senior debut at Crystal Palace on the final day of last season, but will now return to his native Holland to gain further first-team experience at the Eredivisie club.
'I was delighted to sign the new deal and the loan move to Den Haag is a bonus,' Gorre told the official Swansea website.
