Claire Danes is captured with a burlap sack over her head in action-packed teaser for season 5 of Homeland

She may be in voluntary exile from the CIA.

But that doesn't mean Claire Danes's character Carrie Mathison won't still be getting into the thick of things.

A teaser for season five of Showtime series was released on Thursday which showcased plenty of action including the CIA officer getting captured not just once, but twice.

Another big element to the 30-second trailer was a showdown between Carrie and her mentor Saul Berenson, played by Mandy Patinkin.

The clip begins with flashes of the main characters of the show: Carrie, CIA operative and assassin Peter Quinn (played by Rupert Friend) and Saul, who is voicing the monologue of the clip.

Saul is then shown confronting Carrie as he says: 'You turned your back on your entire life. What are you atoning for? Keeping America safe?

'You're being naive and stupid, something you never were before.'

Carrie's shocked face could be seen as she quickly retorts: 'I'm not atoning, I'm just trying to do good work.'

Then the action begins as short glimpses are shown including Carrie lighting a candle down and placing it before an alter at a church and an unidentified man getting knocked unconscious as he enters a home.

Confrontation: Most of the dialog comes from Saul who ends his statement telling Carrie: 'You're being naive and stupid, something you never were before'

Carrie is then ambushed by two men: one holding her arms back and the other placing a black sack over her head in broad daylight.

However, that seemingly wasn't the only time she will be captured this season as the video shows her worried face in the night as someone wraps a black cloth around her neck.

The upcoming episodes are sure to be interesting as season four ended with terrorist Haqqani escaping and Carrie finding out that Saul backed a deal made with the radical at the US Embassy in Pakistan.

This season jumps forward two-and-a-half years into time as Carrie quite the CIA and lives in Berlin, Germany and works as head of security for a philanthropist.

Another interesting element will be what happened after Carrie and Peter, who is seen early in the short spot, shared a kiss at the end of the past season.

Homeland will return to Showtime with season five in the Fall.
