Yorke: let me help

Dwight Yorke today insisted he is desperate to help Blackburn beat the drop.

The former Manchester United striker has fallen out - and fallen out of favour - with Rovers manager Graeme Souness and was an unused substitute in Sunday's 4-0 humiliation at Liverpool.

Yorke told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "Things have not gone as well as I'd have liked.

"I certainly believe I can do a job in the Premiership for a few years yet and I just want to help the club to stay up."

Meanwhile, Craig Short is a doubt for Leeds' visit to Ewood Park on Saturday after picking up a calf injury against Liverpool.

Italian defender Lorenzo Amoruso, a possible replacement, is also suffering from a slight knock picked up in training.
