First day back at work! Jonathan Rhys Meyers rebounds from recent relapse to play The Clash punk icon Joe Strummer in new film London Town

He sparked concern for his well-being in May when he was pictured on the street drinking vodka straight from the bottle.

But Jonathan Rhys Meyers has put his self-confessed 'minor relapse' well and truly behind him, immersing himself in filming for new drama London Town, in which he is rumoured to be playing punk legend Joe Strummer.

The 37-year-old star was spotted on the set of The Clash-inspired film in London on Monday, looking uncannily like the reincarnation of the late British frontman.

The Tudors actor was seen performing to a small crowd on the street, with all the extras dressed in retro 1970s clothing.

When news of the film first broke, Jonathan was rumoured to be playing the boy's father, but the pictures appear to suggest otherwise.

The Bend It Like Beckham star, who is believed to have had six stints in rehab over the past few years, has been on the mend after being pictured looking worse for wear following a big night out.

Jonathan, who got engaged to actress Mara Lane last December after seven months of dating, used his fiancee's Twitter account to issue a statement explaining his distressing appearance.
