They are partners in travel through space and time and Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi made a stand together at Comic-Con.

The Doctor Who co-stars wore matching navy blue outfits as they appeared at a special event promoting the hit show at the San Diego convention on Thursday.

Appropriately enough it was only Michelle Gomez, who plays the female incarnation of legendary show villain The Master, who decided against wearing a coordinating outfit. She instead opted for a clashing monochrome number.

Of course it was fresh-faced Jenna, 29, who was turning most of the heads in a sleeveless catsuit that drew attention to her toned arms.

Her look certainly helped underline how the saucy screen actress was voted the 32nd sexiest woman in the world in a poll by FHM last year.

Former Dreamboys singer Peter, 57, also recaptured some of his old magic in a trendy two-piece suit, black shoes and a patterned gray shirt.

And the Thick Of It favourite looked like the cat that got the cream as he posed up alongside his glamorous female co-stars for the cameras.

Michelle's character Missy is the female incarnation of the Doctor's arch-nemesis The Master.

And she seemed to channel her character by choosing to stand out from her co-stars in a clashing black and white dress and tan-coloured high heels.

Mrs Jack Davenport was certainly easy on the eye as she hammed it up for the cameras with aplomb.

But the titanic trio were not just at the event to pose up for the assembled gaggle of photographers.

For they also delighted attendees by sharing some words of wisdom on the hit BBC show at a panel discussion.

And Peter showed all the acumen one would expect of a former Glasgow School of Art student when he pointed out to fans the iconic character he is playing is not simply another human hero.

He sagely noted: 'The Doctor’s mysterious, he’s a Time Lord. He’s not a guy.'
