Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII's former London love nest goes on sale for £5.35m (but there's no blue plaque due to ANOTHER of her controversial affairs)
- Luxurious three-bedroom apartment in Bryanston Court on George Street
- Was once owned by the American socialite and was where the affair began
- Refused a Blue Plaque due to allegations of Simpson's affair with a Nazi
- The 2,400 sqft apartment has a huge entrance hall and opulent living areas
It was 1936 when King Edward VIII abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson, but eight decades later it is arguably still the most salacious royal scandal to date.
Now, the Marylebone apartment where the affair first began has come on for sale for £5.35 million. If walls had ears, what salacious secrets this home would have to tell.
When the couple started their relationship in 1933, three years before Edward was crowned king, it was at this luxurious apartment in Bryanston Court on George Street, once owned by the American socialite, where the couple would meet - and many of their love letters carry the address.

It was only 11 months after the king was crowned in 1936 that he abdicated the throne in order to marry Simpson, after being advised that would not be accepted as Queen by the British public on account of her being twice divorced.
Despite the apartment's historic past, it was refused a Blue Plaque by English Heritage in 2008 due to allegations that Simpson had an even more controversial affair than her one with the King of England.
Although it has never been proven, Wallis was accused of having a relationship with Joachim Von Ribbentrop, Hitler's Ambassador to London, and of giving him details of British troop movements during the Second World War.
The three-bedroom apartment, which is now on sale with a whopping price tag with upmarket property agents, Rokstone and Russell Simpson, has had a very modern facelift since its days as Ms Simpson's love pad.
The modern eat-in kitchen is a blend of white and dark wood with resin work surfaces and a solid wood breakfast island. And of course, nothing less than top of the range Gaggenau appliances throughout
