In focus: Celebrity Big Brother

Celebrity Big Brother has kicked off but this year it is slightly different to past shows. Find out how here...

  • This year's show will feature eight celebrities rather than the usual six.

  • The show has been extended to a two-week run.
  • Each housemate will nominate a charity and the money raised via phone votes will be split equally between them, regardless of when they are voted out.
  • The celebrities will live in the same house used in Big Brother 5 last summer.
  • There are 36 cameras following the housemates' every move.
  • The first series in 2001 was won by comic Jack Dee and also featured Keith Duffy, Chris Eubank, Vanessa Feltz, Claire Sweeney and Anthea Turner.
  • Vanessa famously cracked up and scrawled graffiti on the kitchen table.
  • Les Dennis publicly unravelled in series two, breaking down as he talked about his marriage problem with wife Amanda Holden. The couple announced their split shortly after he left the house.
  • The second series also had Anne Diamond, Goldie, Melinda Messenger, Sue Perkins and former Take That star Mark Owen in the line-up.
  • Owen won the show and relaunched his music career - but after one top 10 single his comeback flopped and he was dropped by his record label.
